In what was a breezy Sunday we had the semi-finals of both the Summer Salver and Cock of the Walk. It was full of excitement and a lot of action packed golf in both events
In the Cock of the Walk:
1st Semi Final match was between, Nick Linford and Rod Bourne. They were up against the Sunday “iconic” duo of Mark Harrington and Nathan Wilson. The Match was very steady for most of the day, however it was the ‘iconic duo’ that took charge, cruising to a 3&2 victory and a spot into the final.
The 2nd Semi-final match was the match of Kevin Garden and Angelo Angelakis. They were up against debutants Jayson Niewalda and Geoff Pollett. A dominant display of golf between the pair of Jayson and Geoff as they powered through into their 1st Cock of the Walk Final, claiming a 7&6 victory.
In the Summer Salver:
Semi final match 1, we had the pair of Tanya Rhodes and Tricia Stillman, who were up against the powerful duo of Cathie Maggio and Carol Hulls,. A classic David and Goliath match. smooth sailing for most of the day but ultimately, it was the the group of Tanya and Tricia who ended up on top and a ticket to the final winning 4&3.
Semi final match 2, this match would probably go down as the match of the year, we had the the pair of Suzanne Ferguson and Bern Terrell. They were up against the pair of Gina Thorne and Karin Schmidt. All things quiet during the first 9, however it was an up and down battle on the back 9 which saw each pair winning holes 1 on top of the other. 18 holes was not enough to decide so, extra holes were needed. Ultimately, it was the pair of Suzanne and Bern who prevailed, taking victory on the 21st Hole and a chance in the finals.
Well done to all that have made it this far! Good luck to those competing in the final. Stay tuned as we see who will be crowned the 2023 Summer Salver and 2023 Cock of the Walk Champion!
