Saturday the 11th of February was a great day of bringing the Club together.
The Final round of the Club Championships were played in near perfect summer conditions which saw members produce some of their best golf to date.
In A Grade on both the Women’s and Men’s side of the draw saw some very impressive golf. Cathie Maggio over come a great opponent in good form in Cheryl Disher and some bad back pain which saw her finish in hospital the following day. Both women fought hard all day and there was not much in it all day with Cathie eventually winning her match on the 34th hole. Then Andrew Noonan nearly produced the “Perfect Game” only having one bogey in 27 holes to defeat Peter O’Gorman.
We saw many first time winners but one stand out achievement was from our 17 year old B Grade Champion who birdied 3 of his last 6 to defeat Mark Findlay on the 17th hole.
One of the best quotes from the night was from Mark when he thanked Sam for the game and said that he will defend the B Grade Championship next year in Sam’s honor as Sam will be competing for A grade Championship next year. Coming from a handicap of 26 this time last year anything is possible for this young man.
Toby Hynes at the age of only 19 has now won 4 straight under 21 junior championships which is a record at Rossdale, we look forward to watching him in the years to come as he strives for 5 in a row and potentially engraving his name into the Club Championship Trophy.
