2023 Don Nairn Memorial Trophy
|
|
On Sunday the 26th of November the Don Nairn Memorial Trophy was played. Taking advantage of the morning conditions was the group of Ali Milgate, Matt Ledger, Jenny Ewart and Ron Williams shooting a great round of 56.75. However in the afternoon the scoring was quite impressive, winning by just under 1 shot was last years winners Geoff Charnley, Robyn Charnley, Jennie Howe and Mark Findlay.
The Don Nairn was quickly become one of our favorite mixed events on the Rossdale golfing Calendar. Make sure to mark it in the diary for next year and get your team together.

Captains Report Bunker Restoration Work
|
|
This week the bunker restoration work continued on hole 3.
To start a hole of around 80 square metres was excavated on the Practice fairway. The upper clay layer was stripped back, exposing clean white sand.
The sand was then transported and stockpiled out the front of the maintenance shed. Some sand was transported to the 3rd bunker to raise the base and level it out.
Turf was then removed from the rear of the bunker, and soil was removed to “soften” the entry to the bunker for golfers and machinery.
For the remainder of this year we look to improve the fairway bunkers on the 2nd and 6th. Other bunkers have also been identified and will be restored in the New Year.

Last week Levi and Andrew both teed it up in the Australian PGA.
This was Levi’s first start in an Australian Major and the experience is something you can not buy or teach. His first round saw he make 3 birdies and shoot 1 over par. Round 2 the cut was looking like it would go to 2 under par, therefore needing a good second round, the day did not start as planned with making a couple of early bogeys. He finished with a 3 over par round and ended up missing the cut by 4 shots. The week could have been alot different if the putter had gotten hot.
Andrew started his PGA with two rounds of 3 under to be at 6 under through the first two rounds. On Saturday moving day he just didnt get things going and made a couple of bogeys which saw he shoot 1 under. Sunday was a little up and down, he would make a birdie and then make a bogey and ended up finishing even par. He finished at 7 under for the tournament and in a tie for 22nd.
Andrew is playing in The Australian Open this week which is held at The Australian and The Lakes.
