Repairing Bunker shots while no rakes

While COVID-19 still lingers in our state, it is important to make sure every member looks after the state of our bunkers.

Once you have played your bunker shot please ensure you smooth over the shot divot and footmarks that you have made with your feet or the back of your golf club. While we do have preferred lies in the bunkers the presentation of our course and bunker in particular is a vital part to our members. Please all do the right thing and hopefully soon we will be back playing our normal bunkers with rakes soon.

2nd Hole in One in less than a Month for Keith Stewart

Rossdale Golf Club member Keith Stewart has beaten the odds on having 2 hole-in-ones in less than one month on the famous 9th Hole at Rossdale Golf Club.

Hear from Keith himself.

26th Nov Twilight comp7 iron, pin position mid to right. Well struck the shot landed full on downslope of right-side bunker at slow/medium pace travelled 30ft directly towards hole. Group in front watched the whole thing – we were not at first sure it was in until they approached us as we walked up. Ball Prov 1 no.1

31st of Dec7 iron, pin position front right. Had a discussion while waiting for green to clear with Scott Kidman about bagging a whole in one a month prior- who asked me to do it again. Well hit however this time directly at the pin one bounce was all the ball took to before finishing in the hole. Scott new it was in straight away – I was still in shock. Let us say with this one being the last day of the year – the New Year’s celebrations were greatly welcomed!

Congratulations Keith, what an outstanding performance.

Another Hole in 1

Congratulations to Tom Rehn who on Tuesday the 5th of January hit the perfect flighted 7 iron to score himself his first hole in 1.

It was multiplier stableford on Tuesday and with his partner Geoff scoring a 3 for 3 the pair racked up a nice 15 points for the hole.

Well done Tom!

What’s in the Bag?

It is always interesting to know, what do our professional carry in their golf bag?

First off, we will go through Head Teaching Professional, Elissa Lal’s Golf bag.

Each professional gets fitted specifically to their golf clubs; they have to ensure they all have the correct equipment to get the best results. Instead of trying to fit a golf club to a golfer, a golfer should be fitted to a golf club.

The less work we have to do for the club the more we get the value out of what we spend.
