Odyssey Putter Fittings coming to Rossdale!

Have you ever wondered why the “professionals” putt so well? Would you expect them to just pick up a putter in a shop and purchase it because it looked nice or felt good?

I hope majority answered “no” to this question. Professionals and any good golfer would be specifically fitted for their putter. The aim in a putter fitting is to fit a putter to your stroke type, not the other way around.

If this sounds great to you, and you want to improve your putting, book in a fitting at Rossdale Golf Club in the second week of February with Michael, Ben and Elissa to get a “FREE” fitting.

This is a rare opportunity so get in quick!

Dress Code for playing golf at Rossdale Golf Club

It has been brought to staff’s attention in the Golf Shop the dress code of Rossdale Golf Club members needs to be addressed. At times, we do forget the odd dress code and sometimes forget to mention to our guests what attire must be worn for golf at Rossdale.

Please take the time to refresh your knowledge of the expectations of Rossdale Golf Club.

Acceptable Attire

  • Collared Polo shirt and tailored shorts and regulation golfing shoes must be worn by players at all times.
  • Golf style shoes with soft spikes only
  • Socks of any length may be worn with shorts and must be predominantly white or black.

Unacceptable attire

  • No clothing with large or excessive logos
  • No track and leisure suits or sport shorts
  • No denim clothing or jeans

    “Pro” Tip of the week

Uphill and downhill lies can certainly catch us all out at times.

When you are faced with a shot like this, always remember your body set up and weight distribution must go with the slope of the land. If you are trying to keep “back behind” the ball you might have trouble with making consistent connection.

    Sidehill lies is another difficult component of playing undulating courses;

A quick tip when the ball is below your feet at address, ensure your hand grip is at the top end of the club and aim more left of target than normal as your ball when come out with a fade effect. When the ball is above your feet, ensure you grip down on the grip a small amount aim more right of target than you normally would as the ball will come out with a draw effect.

If you are still having trouble, be sure to book a lesson with Michael, Ben or Helen in the Pro Shop to get your game into shape today!

Phone our professionals: 9580 1008 or email golfshop@rossdalegolf.com.au

    Safety on Course

Coming into the warmer weather it is a good time to remind members that you should carry plenty of water when out on course to avoid dehydration, apply sunscreen and wear appropriate sun protection. Our heat policy states, once the temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius the competition of the day is cancelled and if temperatures reach 40 degrees the course will be closed.

In the event of an emergency please call 000, and then call the Pro Shop to notify staff of the incident as they will be able to direct the ambulance on to the course.

In the event that the Pro Shop phone is engaged we have now put in place a mobile phone to be used in emergencies. We recommend all members save this number in your phone as an emergency contact.

    Pro Shop – 9580 1008

    Emergency Mobile – 0422 866 355

Our staff at Rossdale are regularly trained in first aid and many hold a level 2 certification and are well trained to use the Clubs defibrillator if need be.
