Repairing Pitch Marks

With the Summer months approaching it is each members responsibility to fix their own pitch marks when the balls has landed onto the green, this does not take long to fix the pitch mark up and this will allow us to keep our greens in the best condition when can for all of our members and guests.

If you see several pitch marks on the green, please ensure you fix them and we will endeavour to keep a regular reminder going out to members.

2021 Club Championships

Round 1 of the 2021 Rossdale Club Champions is schedule for 16th January.

On course etiquette

When playing the 4th or the 6th hole and if you believe your ball has left the grounds of the golf course, you must call the pro shop immediately.

The member is not responsible for the damaged caused, but from an insurance side we need to know member, date and time if incident.

Slow Play.

Slow Play can be an issue at times, it is your job to keep up the with group in front on you, if you are lagging behind within the field, please allow two players to putt out and then walk to the next hole tee, this will help your group make up time in which you have dropped behind.

It is not etiquette to approach another member, hit up or take it into your own hands to make a group aware of their position, if you have any problems on course, please call the Golf shop team, who will assist with your request.

Lastly, if you lose sight of your ball or think it may impend on another group on a joining hole, please yell FORE to make the person/group aware of their danger.

News from the Pro Shop Staff

Michael Moore, Director of Golf, participated in the PGA Professional Championships at Sandhurst Golf Club on Monday 14th December. Michael had a morning tee time which was a blessing if the weather was to turn, like we all know Melbourne weather can.

Michael had Ben, our Trainee Professional on the bag for him for the day. Ben was out there to certainly be shown how the “master” does it. Having limited practice time and on course playing Michael knew he would be able to manage the ball around.

Michael and Ben had a struggle through the first 9 holes, Michael having a 42 (6 over par), to then turn on the back 9 shooting a fantastic 33, (which should have been 30, comments Ben) Michael finished with +3 for the day and finished in 19th position.

I would say that Michael has done a fantastic job to shoot that score all the hard work and hours spent in the Golf shop and limited time on the course himself.

Women’s Beginner Golf

Saturday 12th December was Rossdale Golf club’s first Women’s Beginner Open Day.

We had 26 Women Beginner Golfers attend the Saturday afternoon, the program was run by PGA Professional Ruben and Elissa Lal.

“We set out with the group split into two, which had one group working with Ruben learning about chipping and the other half with me (Elissa) learning the full swing technique. They certainly had a great time, and the feedback was very positive”.

Our next Women’s Beginner Golf Program will commence on the second Saturday in January.

Limited to 12 golfers, Bookings essential.

Volkswagen Scramble, Club winners decided!

This week was the annual Volkswagen Scramble for Rossdale Golf Club members.

Saturday, we had 20 teams compete in the mixed event with the overall winner being Stephen Clarke, James Hyland, Jack and Geoff Charnley with a score of 53.25

Wednesday, we had the Women’s Scramble, with 9 teams competing the overall winners were Jo Baron, Anne Towns, Barbara O’Connor and Anne Cash 64.

Both teams will now head to the regional final in April 2021 to represent Rossdale for their chance to win through to the Championship final!

Good luck to both teams!

Longest Day, TOMORROW

Tomorrow Michael, Andrew, Ben and Gerard take part in the longest day. 72 holes in one day, they will be teeing off at 5:30am and aiming to finish at about 5:30pm.

Because Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70 and we want to help change this.

Please sponsor the team today, to make every hole count. All Members are welcome to come and support the group tomorrow throughout the day.

Thank you for your generous donation. Together, let’s tee off for a cancer free future.
