Rossdale E-News 7th November

6th November 2019 - Members, Rossdale News

This week we hosted our $10,000 Hole in One giveaway, for those that weren’t able to come and have a go, the event was hosted on the 10th tee and hitting to the middle of the 10th fairway where a hole was cut out at 170 meters, unfortunately the big cash prize did not go off , however we still gave away a couple of great prizes to our NTP winners. Zeke Lewis hit the closest shot for the day which was around 3 foot – this got Zeke a brand new Taylor Made Golf Bag, the next best was Andrew Stanes who took home a pair of Adidas Shoes for his tee shot.

Thank you to everyone who came down and had a go, despite the windy weather it was a great atmosphere at the Club    and we look forward to hosting a similar event in the near future.

72 Holes in One Day
Raising Money for
Cancer Council

Andrew and I are taking on Cancer Council’s The Longest Day…

On Monday the 9th of December we will be taking on the ultimate golfing challenge to complete four rounds of golf in one day. That’s 72 holes!

We will be testing our skill, strength and stamina to raise funds for Cancer Council.

Because Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70 and we want to help change this.

Please sponsor us today, to make every hole count!

Thank you for your generous donation. Together, let’s tee off for a cancer free future.

Any Members wanting to participate or require any more information please contact myself in the Proshop.

Junior Pennant Team
Remains Undefeated

G’day members.

Round 3 saw us pitted against another local rival, Keysborough.

We had made a couple of changes to the line up, with Matilda Dunn coming in for her first match and her 1st 18 holes of golf, Nat Mason and Tom Alvarez also stepping up for their 1st matches of the season.

After a slightly shaky start, Toby, Luke and Nat started to play some consistent golf and before we knew it we had 3 solid wins in the bank.

Billy battled all day but eventually succumbed on the 16th hole for a close loss.

Tom was 3 down and then his fighting spirit took charge and he came back to be playing 18 all square. A nerveless putt and it was 1 up for Tom, well done.

Now  only Matilda was left on the course. After a flying start that saw her go to 4 up early, Matilda was fighting off a grand charge from her opponent. Matilda was tiring badly as she made it to 18 all square but she fought it out to win on the last. A great win in her first match and thanks should go to Fred Ford, her caddy, who kept her calm all match.

So, fellow members, It was a 5-1 win for us and we look forward to Settler’s Run next week. I would like to thank all the players, caddies and supporters who came out to Keysy , I could not do this without you all. Special thanks to Connor Oldham, who came to support his team mates and took some wonderful photos of the action .I remind you all to support this great young bunch of juniors in any way you can, and please sell out the 500 club, this group deserve every little thing the rest of us can do.

Thanks and Cheers, Mick Oldham
