The Dunrootyn’s

The Dunrootyn’s is a group of men with a wide range of handicaps who play golf from 7am every Tuesday & Thursday morning. Players are teamed up in groups of 4 at random giving an opportunity for everyone to mix each game!

Contrary to popular belief, the name of the Dunrootyn’s is derived from a small village somewhere in Scotland!

The competitive side of the golf is provided by best score prizes and a “ball rundown” each day. The social aspect is derived from a small fee of $3 each round, which allows us to provide two lunches a year (one on a Tuesday & one on a Thursday). The Thursday lunch consists of a three-course meal and prize-winners for the various trophies are presented while the Tuesday lunch is less formal. All lunches are partially funded by a competition levy of $2 per losing pair.

The Dunrootyn’s always welcome new players to join them! We thank 49 year member Ron Dickson for his assistance on giving us an insight on the Dunrootyn’s!

From the Course!

Currently the course staff are aerating all fairways.

The benefits of this process include:

  • relieves soil compaction
  • allows air and more importantly water into the plant root zone
  • more efficient placement of chemicals into the soil profile.

It is a long slow process where calcium, fertiliser and insecticides are applied after spiking. Most of these products need to be watered into the soil profile.

The course staff do endeavour to keep out of the way of golfers but please remember that they have right of way at all times on the golf course. If you do come across their machinery in action or a bank of sprinklers still running, we ask all golfers to please be patient during this very busy time.

70th Anniversary & Captain’s Night @ Rossdale

The 2019 Captain’s Night will be held in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the Rossdale Golf Club on Saturday the 21st of September.  The night will include a range of entertainment including a ten piece New Orleans jazz band, canapes, two courses and an unlimited drinks package, all of which will tie in with the night’s 1920s underground speakeasy theme. We hope to see you there. It sure will be a fantastic evening celebrating both the captain and the proud history of the club.

This event is booking out fast!!! Please remember that 5 & 6 day members can play in the competition on Saturday the 21st of September free of charge if they are attending the night.

School Holiday Junior Clinics!

Rossdale is offering a school holiday program which is open to all juniors. The program will cover all aspects of the game with our very own PGA Professionals Michael Moore & Peter Manzie.

The dates for each of the clinics are Wednesday 25th of September and Wednesday 2nd of October.

The cost is $40 per session. Each session will include a warm up, chipping and bunkers, pitching, full swing and putting. Morning tea will be provided!

Food & Wine Night a Raging Success!

Only 20 spaces remain for the next food and wine night on the 13th of September! This night will celebrate Australian wine and has a perfectly match menu assembled by our very own hatted chef, Patrick Bowring.

Entries are now open for the 2019 Corporate Cup. This is best day of the year for golf, food and beverage.

Bookings will only be accepted with an upfront payment due to the high demand.

There will be a guest speaker for the night, and we promise it is an event not to be missed.

Additional Member News

On the Grand Final Eve Public Holiday, Friday the 27th of September, the kitchen will not be open for bistro meals. The bar will run as per normal with members draw and happy hour from 5pm-7pm.
