Meet the Rossdale team!
In recent weeks we have been introducing our dynamic, professional and friendly team. Having welcomed over 200 new members in recent years, many of whom may not have been introduced to the department team leaders. As such, I’d like to take the time to introduce each of our hard working team.
Last week we introduced Kyle Conway, who works in Golf Administration. This week we are pleased to introduce Course Superintendent Travis Stillman.

Course Superintendent – Travis Stillman
The Stillman family name has been synonymous with Rossdale Golf Club for over half a century. As the eldest and most bearable son of club legends, Grant & Tricia Stillman, Travis has been a member and manager of multiple pennant flags. According to his many friends at the club, Travis has always been a “right place right time” kind of guy, as evidenced in 1988 where he became the only known person in Rossdale history to win two flags in one year (as depicted by the two 1988 pennant photos where he is pictured in both the successful Colts & Men’s Pennant Premierships teams as shown below).
Professionally, Travis has had a long and successful career in the horticulture industry having completed both his Certificate III and all Diploma Units within the Diploma of Horticulture program. Coupled with over 20 years of service within the local sporting community preparing grounds for over 6 local sporting clubs and 20 years’ service on the Rossdale course team under Colin Cowden in his youth, Travis has already made an impact internally at Rossdale Golf Club despite only being back here for less than 12 months.
More recently Travis has served as Assistant Superintendent at both Frankston Golf Club and Rossdale Golf Clubs.
Travis has played a key role in the development of the short range facility, the tree planting project, tee levelling renovations including paths, bunkering and garden beds. With exciting plans for the future, Rossdale will no doubt continue to benefit from the golf course maintenance services of the outstanding clubman, Travis Stillman.
Long Game Masterclass
This Friday the 2nd of August PGA Teaching Professional Peter Manzie will be hosting the first of many Master Class’s , each session will cover different aspects of the game and will ensure you get your swing in shape heading into Spring.
Week 1 will be a Long Game Class covering the fundamentals of the golf swing and how we can get a consistent strike and optimal distance from your swing.
The clinics are capped at 6 people to ensure each person gets the attention required , all bookings can be made online via the timesheet portal.
Cost: $25 pp

Winter Cup Winners!
We have crowned our Winter Cup Champions, Paul Warden & Vic Wotherspoon through a sudden death playoff.
After a miraculous come back by Trevor Prosser & David Quinan to take it to extra holes, Quinan holed a 20 footer on the 19th hole to take the match to the 20th! Victory looked to be finally secure after Vic Wotherspoon flushed two shots onto the 2nd green on the 20th hole before duffing his birdie attempt leaving the door wide open as his partner Paul Warden couldn’t bare to watch. “Spoon” made amends by coolly holing his 10 footer for par to seal the win and end what Warden called “8 weeks of stress” in a tightly contested Winter Cup that will be remembered for a long time.
Well done to all who competed. We hope you enjoyed the format and will be back for another fantastic tournament again next year!

Food & Wine Night a Raging Success!
Our first of the four Food and Wine nights was a fantastic success. Those in attendance were presented with a series of international wines perfectly matched with an exceptional 5 course menu prepared by our very own three hatted head chef, Patrick Bowring.
After the raving reviews received from the first night, the second Food & Wine Night is expected to sell out early! This night will celebrate Australian wine with another perfectly matched menu that will be announced shortly!

Corporate Cup 2019
Entries are now open for the 2019 Corporate Cup. This is best day of the year for golf, food and beverage.
Bookings will only be accepted with an upfront payment due to the high demand.
There will be a guest speaker for the night, and we promise it is an event not to be missed.

Golf Lesson Promotion
For the months of July & August our Teaching Professionals Michael Moore and Peter Manzie are offering a special offer where if you purchase (2) 30 minute golf lessons for $110 you will receive the 3rd lesson FREE OF CHARGE.
Peter is already making an impact with his Coaching. Member ‘Patrick Raleigh’ had a lesson last Thursday afternoon and on Friday he had his best score for the year posting 40 points. Peter worked on Patrick’s weight transfer on his back swing allowing him to load more power onto his left leg (Patrick is left handed) this helped Patrick transfer more weight during the follow through and ultimately produced better contact and more power.

Junior Golf Lessons
Term 3 – Starts Wednesday
Starting on Wednesday the 17th of July, junior clinics will be held every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The cost for the 10 week term is $100 or $170 for 2 children from the same family!
Each week lessons will focus on a new aspect of the game with the goal to get the juniors out on course as soon as possible.
