Meet the Rossdale team!

In recent years we have worked hard to attract highly skilled people into all areas of the business to ensure that we are constantly increasing member services. Internally, we believe that it is the people in our club that give us a competitive advantage over all other clubs in the bayside area. As such, we are thrilled to have such a dynamic, professional and friendly group of individuals leading our operational departments. Since the beginning of 2016 we have happily welcomed over 200 new members to Rossdale Golf Club. Many of whom may not have yet been introduced to the department team leaders that work hard each week to make Rossdale a unique environment. Therefore, I’d like to take the time to introduce to you each of our professionals.

Last week we introduced our 3 hatted chef Patrick Bowring and previously our new Director of Golf, former Canadian and Australasian PGA Tour Professional, Michael Moore. This week it is member favourite and Saturday Cult hero, Senior Bar Supervisor, Gerard Ryan. 

In the coming weeks we will introduce more of the great staff that make Rossdale an exciting golf club on the rise.

Senior Bar Supervisor – Gerard Ryan

Gerard joined the Rossdale Golf Club team in 2016 and quickly became entrenched in the Rossdale culture with his friendly nature, team-first attitude and willingness to always go the extra mile.

Gerard has held leadership positions of various reputable hospitality organisations such as Crown Casino, Sandhurst Golf Club and the iconic hotels; Mentone and the Half Moon in Brighton.

Gerard is noticeably one of the hardest workers at Rossdale Golf Club but always finds time for the members. When not working behind the bar he tries to spend as much time as possible with his family and also occupies his time running the various Footy / Punting competitions at the Club. His love of “Melbourne Storm” & hatred of “North Melbourne” are supposedly legendary.

There is no doubt that Gerard is a member favourite particularly on Thursday’s, Friday’s & Saturday’s. In a short time here he has become a cult hero, with the members even naming a delicious green elixir after him. Gerard loves fine wine and is rumoured to have an enviable Penfold’s Grange collection.

He would like to send a special invitation to all members to come down to the Clubhouse & introduce themselves to his team on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Together with Pat and our professional events team, we believe we have formed the best hospitality department of any golf club and we invite all members to come down and experience our exceptional food and beverage services.

The night will be hosted by one of Melbourne’s best up and coming sommelier’s presenting a series of international wines perfectly matched with an exceptional menu prepared by our very own head chef, Patrick Bowring, who brings all of his experience in three hat restaurants to this menu.

Short Range a Big Hit!

Two years ago the course team started renovating the practice green in an effort to continue to improve the practice facilities for all golfers.

Using the super attributes of Pure Distinction Creeping Bentgrass, members now have a 110m short range with renovated bunkering and a two-tiered green that is over 600 sq metres in size. It’s perfect for full wedge shots, pitching, chipping, bunker shots and even putting!

The course team must be commended for their tireless work to improve and maintain the golf course. Please ensure that all course staff are given right of way out on the golf course.

70th Anniversary & Captain’s Night @ Rossdale

The 2019 Captain’s Night will be held in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the Rossdale Golf Club on Saturday the 21st of September.  The night will include a range of entertainment including a ten piece New Orleans jazz band, canapes, two courses and an unlimited drinks package, all of which will tie in with the night’s 1920s underground speakeasy theme. We hope to see you there. It sure will be a fantastic evening celebrating both the captain and the proud history of the club.

Inspired by the Deep South theme, the menu is announced as follows!

CANAPES:           

Potato and Jalapeno croquettes with burnt leek Aioli

Junior Golf Lessons – Term 3

Starting on Wednesday the 17th of July, junior clinics will be held every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The cost for the 10 week term is $100 or $170 for 2 children from the same family! 

Each week lessons will focus on a new aspect of the game with the goal to get the juniors out on course as soon as possible.

Changes to Ladies Fixture Book!

Due to bad weather last week there has been a change to the Ladies fixture book going forward.

The new changes will now look like the following:

– July 10th, 1st Round of Winter Shield – 4BBB Par

– July 13th, Final of Jean MacDonald Cup – 4BBB Matchplay

– July 17th, 2nd Round of Winter Shield – 4BBB Par

– July 24th, Semi Finals of Winter Shield – Stableford

Board of Directors Vacancy

Following the resignation of John Cormack from the Board of Directors, the club would like to reiterate that there is now a vacancy on the Board of Directors. Please forward all enquiries and applications to rgc.manager@rossdalegolf.com.au or in writing to the office during normal trading hours.

Again, we would like to thank long standing member of the club, John Cormack, for his service as a Director.

 

Additional Member News! 

The clubhouse will now be operational from 10:00am every day. The pro-shop will be open to service members with beverages (including coffees & alcohol) and food (both hot & cold) from 7am.

Sticky Date Pudding with Caramel Sauce & Vanilla Ice-cream has arrived in the bistro for winter at only $8! Available Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
