Michael Moore is here!
Many of you may already have seen Michael Moore around the club and if you haven’t be sure to say hello!
Michael is set to step into the Director of Golf role over in the ProShop on the 1st of July and has quite the impressive resume.
From 2009 – 2015 he competed on Australasian Tour, Canadian Tour, Asian Tour and South American Tour. His best tournament finishes include: 2nd in the 2012 Taman Dayu Championship at -16 under, Top 10 in the 2012 NZ open and at the 2012 2nd Sydney Invitational. Following this he completed bridging course through Australian PGA to become a certified PGA Professional as well as a Diploma of Club Management. For the past 3 years he has worked in the role of Assistant Manager at Thaxted Park Golf Club in South Australia where he developed a junior academy which today coaches over 50 children. He also started a beginner ladies program which had 80 new ladies start the game and 12 join the golf club.
Michael’s grandfather Peter is also a past 27 year member of the club. Michael is keen to bring new ideas to the club and is set on enhancing everyone’s Rossdale golfing experience!
It’s getting colder but the scores aren’t getting higher!
Congratulations to Yuni Yang for shooting nett 68 to win by 6 shots and claim the Secretary’s Cup! Dorothy Heath edged out Jenny Cooke for second place on a countback. Both had a nice score of nett 74.
Also, well done to Glenn Bolger on winning the May Monthly Medal with a score of nett 62 to win by 5! This is one of the best scores in a monthly medal in recent memory and capturing this win puts Glenn into the playoff for Medallist of the Year! A reminder to all members that the June monthly medal will be played this Saturday the 25th of May. Good luck to all involved!
Winter is Coming!
……And so is the Men’s Winter Cup.
Entries are now being accepted at the Pro Shop for this highly regarded Honour Board event, with the first qualifying round scheduled for Saturday 1st June. After the second qualifying round which is scheduled for Saturday 15th June, the top 8 pairs qualify for the Quarter Finals with the format being 4BBB Handicap Match Play. The final is scheduled for Saturday 6th July.
So come on…..grab yourself a partner and enter this exciting 4BBB event.
Talking about grabbing yourself a partner, the Mixed Foursomes Championship is scheduled for Sunday 2nd June. This single round of Foursomes Stroke includes both a scratch (Honour Board event) and handicap event. Please contact the Pro Shop for entry in this event.
70th Anniversary & Captain’s Night @ Rossdale
The 2019 Captain’s Night will be held in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the Rossdale Golf Club on Saturday the 21st of September. The night will include a range of entertainment including a ten piece New Orleans jazz band, canapes, two courses and an unlimited drinks package, all of which will tie in with the night’s 1920s underground speakeasy theme. Bookings can be made at the office or alternatively by calling the office on 95801008 and selecting line 3 for events. We hope to see you there. It sure will be a fantastic evening celebrating both the captain and the proud history of the club.
Another reminder that the upcoming Captain’s Day has been rescheduled to coincide with this year’s Captains Night on Saturday, September 21st. Due to this change, the event of the day on Saturday May 18th has been amended to a Stableford competition. This change will ensure the Captain’s Day has its justice being held in conjunction with Captain’s Night!
Biggest Morning Tea is back!
This years BIGGEST MORNING TEA is on MONDAY the 27th from 10:30 until 12:30! This Monday we will have a selection of sweet treats to start your morning off!
All members and non members are welcome to join us at the club to raise money for this worthy cause.
The $18 will be collected on entry and prizes will be awarded throughout the morning tea. You must be there to win!
