2009 VICTORIA'S CLUB PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

Steve has been awarded Victoria's Club Professional of the Year for 2009 and was unable to attend the award ceremony due to personal commitments so Adrian Booth, General Manager attended the function and read the following acceptance speech on Steve's behalf:

"Fellow PGA members, ladies, gentlemen and distinguished guests.

It is with regret that I am unable to be here tonight to accept this award of the Club Pro of the Year and join you all in the festivities of the night.

I feel very honored to be awarded the club pro of the year award, and I would like to thank the following people who have been a big part of my life and mentored me throughout my 10 year career as a PGA member.

Firstly, thank you to Mark McIntyre who gave me a start as a PGA trainee and still continues to provide me with ongoing support.  I value both his professionalism and friendship.

To the PGA of Australia for everything they have done for me over the past 10 years.  The continual programs they run in developing our knowledge in the industry, allows us to pass on the best possible service to our members and guests.  This is a huge asset for which I am very grateful.

A big thank you to Rossdale Golf Club and Board of Directors, who, 7 years ago gave me a chance.  At only 25 years of age and with limited experience they probably took a risk, but with great support we have developed a great working relationship which continues to grow stronger.  For this I thank them sincerely.  Also to the members of the club who have supported me over the years and made my job a lot easier ... thank you all so much.

It's an honor to have my name alongside these past winners.  Thank you to Bruce Green who now has this award named after him.  We are all aware of Bruce's contribution to the PGA and he will always be regarded as one of the best in the industry... somebody we all look up to.

Finally, thank you to CPM Asia Pacific for their sponsorship and ongoing support of the PGA.  Without companies like yourselves, the PGA wouldn't be the organisation it is today and these nights wouldn't exist.
